How Online Elementary School Works
Tennessee Virtual Academy (TNVA) is a tuition-free online public school program that uses the K12 curriculum, which is accessed via an Online School (OLS) as well as through more traditional methods. Education materials—including books and science lab supplies—are delivered right to the family's doorstep. Materials vary by grade and class.
We also partner parents and students with a Tennessee-licensed teacher to guide and track progress and achievement through the curriculum. There are frequent in-person meetings and events as well.
Student-to-student interaction is also emphasized, so TNVA students are provided with a variety of opportunities for social activities and engagement.
Who is this intended for?
The TNVA K–5 program serves K–5 students who reside within Tennessee.
What are the costs?
Because we are a public school program, TNVA is tuition-free. The K12 curriculum materials are provided at no cost. Common household items and school supplies like pencils and paper are not provided. A computer and internet access are required to access the curriculum and attend classes. In certain cases, based on financial need, TNVA may loan a computer to an enrolling family. This determination will be made during the enrollment process.
